Pius X HS Video Gallery

High School Football America has captured over 45 hours of video during 2010 Pius X High School Football season in Roseto, Pennsylvania.  We began shooting video on August 16th during Camp Royal, when the team spent the first week on-campus for two-a-days.

Throughout the season we are chronicling the Royals, who are playing their first season under head coach Phil Stambaugh, who led the school to one of its two PIAA Class A state semifinal appearances.  After graduating from Pius X, Stambaugh starred at Lehigh University before going on to the NFL and NFL Europe.

Below is a video gallery that will aggregate all of the videos from the 2010 season.  It is presented from newest to oldest.

  • Pottstown Game Day - Part 2

This is Part 2 of our three-part series on the Pius X Royals season opener against Pottstown.

With the support of first year head coach Phil Stamaugh, High School Football America founder/editor-in-chief Jeff Fisher has been able to captured 45-hours of footage of the Royals during the 2010 season. Included in that footage is an all-access look inside the first game of the season against Pottstown.

Stambaugh wore a microphone from the time he arrived at Amelio Scott Alumni Stadium at 7:15 a.m. on September 4th until the end of the game. I've broken the day into three parts to give fans an inside look at how Stambaugh's first game as a head coach unfolded.

The Royals lost their opener to the Class AAA Trojans.

  • Pottstown Game Day - Part 1

In the latest episode of the 2010 Pius X High School Football Story from High School Football America, we take you into the heart of Game Day.

This is Part 1 of a three-part look at the Royals season opener against Pottstown. With the support of first year head coach Phil Stamaugh, High School Football America founder/editor-in-chief Jeff Fisher has been able to captured 35-hours of footage of the Royals during the 2010 season.  Included in that footage is an all-access look inside the first game of the season against Pottstown.

The Royals lost their opener to the Class AAA Trojans, who have lost six straight since their 27-20 victory.

  • No Time to Weight During the Season
Conditioning and weight training doesn't end when the season begins.

In the latest video vignette from High School Football America, Jeff Fisher takes you inside Pius X High School's tiny weight room in the basement of the school for one of two workout sessions that head coach Phil Stambaugh conducts twice-a-week during the season. Stambaugh puts the team through circuit training twice-a-week with players rotating around 20 stations in 30-second intervals.
  • Game 5 Video Highlights

The Royals won their second straight game beating Bucktail 57-14 on October 2, 2010.

After a slow first quarter, first year head coach Phil Stambaugh rallied the troops.

You can listen to his coaching from the sidelines in this video.  It was the Royals first league game in nearly a decade after playing as an independent since 1999.  This year the Royals joined the All-American Conference.

14-year old quarterback AJ Long (#3) continued to improve in this game.  He threw four touchdowns in the victory of Bucktail.

  • Royals "Bucking" for Second Straight "W"
After traveling thousands of miles over the past decade, Royals' head coach Phil Stambaugh looks ahead to his team's first league game since 1999 against the Bucktail Bucks.  The Royals joined the All-American Conference this year after playing as an independent for more than a decade.
  • Game 4 Video Highlights

Led by 14-year old freshman quarterback AJ Long, the Royals collected their first win of the 2010 season with a 62-36 win over arch-rival Marian Catholic.  Long threw three touchdowns and ran for two others in the victory.

  • Cheering and Cooking
Everyone pitches-in when it comes to the Pius X High School football team.

In High School Football America's latest video vignette, the school's cheerleaders get the team ready for the Royals Week 4 match-up against arch-rival Marian Catholic by cooking an entire pasta dinner complete with sausage and meatballs, salad and bread.

  • Return of the Little Royals
One of the keys to any good high school football program is its feeder system or its youth program.

In Roseto, its feeder system...the Little Royals...was discontinued around 1970. First year head coach Phil Stambaugh has reinstated it for the 2010 season.
  • Haircuts for Team Unity
For the second year in a row, junior Nico Goffredo gathered his teammates before the start of camp for a voluntary hairstyling that was designed to build team unity.

Most of the Royals took part by sporting a mohawk haircut, but some players decided to be a little more creative. The result was a samuri warrior cut; a "Friar Tuck" that didn't quite turn out the way it was planned; and one style that goes beyond description that you'll have to see to believe.
  • Co-Captains Selected
Seniors Zack Cinelli and George Dalessandro talk about the trill of being elected as leaders of a program that they grew-up watching a kids.  The two were selected from a group of eight seniors by vote of their teammates.  Both are honored to carry out the Royals' slogan of "Pride and Tradition".
  • Stambaugh Talks about Early Days of Camp

The best way to describe the Royals is they are YOUNG.

The Royals only return four starters on both sides of the ball.  In all, there's only 10 returning lettermen from last year's 9-3 team that finished runner-up in District 11's Single-A classification.  13 seniors were lost to graduation, including four-year starter at quarterback Anthony Casciano, who is Stambaugh's nephew.

Stambaugh, who threw for nearly 5,600 yards and 52 touchdowns in his three years as quarterback at Pius, says freshman A.J. Long stands to follow in Casciano's footsteps as a four year starter at QB.

  • Eating Like Royalty
Pius X High School (Roseto, PA) has a four-year tradition of keeping kids on campus for the first week of high school football practice....it's known as Camp Royal.

Staying together builds team unity and spirit. Aside from the football, the biggest chore is feeding the 50-plus players three meals a day, plus healthy snacks. That's just one of the areas where this tiny community of parents and volunteers come together to help.

Throughout the first week of the camp, the "Loyal Royals" work tirelessly from 6 A.M. until 10 P.M. making sure that every player is well taken care of.
  • Camp Royal Camp Opens August 16, 2010
Under misty skies, the 2010 Pius X Royals open the 2010 season with two-a-days.  This is a 90-second video montage of sights-and-sounds from the morning practice session.
